The Magical Storefront

I prefer to have a magic item economy in the game. It fits better with the lore about the Forgotten Realms, and it is more in line with what we, as players of 3e, 3.5e, and Pathfinder 1e, expect.
To that end I have compiled a Magic Item Catalog, a PDF of which can be downloaded here

Using some of the insights gleaned from the treasure tables (which segregate usable and permanent magic items onto different tables) and from this sentence on page 135 of the DMG:

The value of a consumable item, such as a potion or scroll, is typically half the value of a permanent item of the same rarity.

I have worked to separate out the magic items into price categories. I also like the concept of the 3e notion of Max GP Value per Settlement. There aren't many guidelines for this sort of work, and therefore I had to take some liberties. I used half of the low end of the price range for "charged" items, and the full top end of the price range for permanent items. I then had to make up a legendary price category.

For instance, Plate Armor +1, as written in the DMG, is a "rare" item, whose value could range from 500 gp to 5000 gp. Strange, as non-magical plate armor costs 1500 gp on its own.

Similarly, some of the items that may be found on a Robe of Useful Items are very expensive! You only need pay 101 gp to 500 gp for this thing, and it could technically have up to 16,000 gp in gems attached  to it. Or multiple bags of 100 gp; or multiple 500 gp silver coffers.

The magic item economy, as written, is a big mess. I understand that it may not matter in this edition.

I have tried to straighten it out a bit for my own sanity.

Using the system I detailed in the first two posts (revised PC Wealth by Level and Magic Item Accrual Rate) paired with these magic item prices, a 20th level character could sell everything they own and have a mountain of about 300,000 gp to show for their effort. As a rough rule of thumb, each hero can be saving up to purchase one legendary magical item in the upper levels of their career (to go with the 1 legendary item they should find somewhere). That's not too bad, I would say. What else would they use the excessive money on?
